Candelabra Set ‘Empire style’

This set of Empire-style candlesticks were made circa 1920, probably in France. The stand rests on a square base with a bear or wolf head in medallion on all four sides. Felt is attached to the underside.

Empire style
Empire is a style that emerged in France after the French Revolution (1789-1799) and was very popular with the wealthy bourgeoisie. This style harked back to the past, that of the Roman Empire. Empire elements can be recognized in both architecture and the visual arts: straight lines, stability and Roman decorative motifs.
