About West Germany (Dümler&Breiden)
A West Germany vase is (almost) always made in Germany. Under the West Germany name, there are about thirty different brands such as Scheurich, Bay, Jasba, Carstens and Dümler&Breiden. During the 1950s through the 1970s, these brands were incredibly popular and many vases were produced during this period. A West Germany vase can be recognized by its ‘bouncy’ appearance with a professionally applied glaze.
Dümler&Breiden was founded in 1883 and was based in Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany. Traditional pottery such as beer jugs and cups were manufactured in the beginning. After World War II, the company experienced significant growth and Dümler&Breiden was one of the most influential ceramics manufacturers of its time. In 1995 the company closed its doors.
