About West Germany (Ruscha)
A West Germany vase/jar is (almost) always made in Germany. Under the name West Germany there are about thirty different brands such as Scheurich, Bay, Jasba, Carstens, Dümler&Breiden and Ruscha. In the 1950s through the 1970s, these brands were incredibly popular. Many vases were therefore produced during this period. A West Germany vase can be recognized by its “bouncy” appearance with a professionally applied glaze.
In 1905 the Ruscha factory was founded by Georg Schradt. The original name was therefore Klein & Schardt. His son Rudolf Schradt took over the company in 1948 and changed the name to Ruscha. In addition to vases, wall tiles were also produced. In 1996, the factory closed its doors.
