About ARNHEMSE FAYENCEFABRIEK (1907-1934)
The Arnhemse Fayencefabriek is a continuation of the Pottery Factory Purmerend founded in 1903, which burned down in 1906. The brothers Jacob (1880-1924) and Klaas Vet (1876-1943) subsequently chose Arnhem as their new place of business. It is not entirely clear why they chose this, but Arnhem was at the time a prosperous city with a good infrastructure. The objects that were made in the factory were mostly vases, flowerpots, wall plates, smoke and liquor sets and occasional pottery (souvenirs). Because the Fayencefabriek Arnhem had a large oven capacity, the factory also baked on behalf of other plate makers in the Netherlands. In 1934 the factory closed its doors.
