Makkum Plate ‘Butterfly’ (Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum)

This polychrome plate was hand-painted around 1950 by the Dutch earthenware factory Royal Tichelaar Makkum in Friesland. The rim is decorated with flowers and a red grid pattern. Flowers and a butterfly are depicted in the centre. On the back of the plate there is a mark of the Tichelaar factory, model number and the painter’s signature.

Interior advice
This polychrome bowl fits both a classic and a modern interior. For example, you can place it on a TV cabinet or in a bookcase. In addition, it can also be hung on the wall since there is an iron wire present at the back.

Royal Tichelaar is the oldest Dutch family business, founded in 1565. This earthenware factory enjoys great fame for its extensive range of decorative tiles and pottery, made from locally mined yellow clay. This clay is hand shaped and painted in the traditional way.
