This Delft Blue candlestick was manufactured at the Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in Delft in 1996. The candlestick is hand-painted: all sides depict floral motifs in color. At the bottom is the mark of De Porceleyne Fles: an apothecary jar with the initials JT intertwined underneath (these stand for Joost Thooft, owner of the company in 1876). Below the bottle is the word ‘Delft’ with a curly capital D. On the left side are the painter’s initials: LDG (mr. L. de Groot), the year code DP (1996) and the model number P.58.

About De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft)
The Delft flatware factory Porceleyne Fles, also known as Royal Delft, is the only Delft-based remaining manufacturer for Delft Blue. The manufacturer has continued to paint decorations by hand since 1653, on its objects such as vases, wall plates, tiles and pitchers. De Porceleyne Fles is known worldwide for its products, and in 1919 the factory was awarded the designation Royal.
