This Delft Blue plate was manufactured in 2002 at the Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in Delft. The plate is hand-painted: floral and geometric motifs are depicted, both on the rim and in the circle located centrally on the plate. Two birds are also depicted in the circle. At the bottom is the mark of De Porceleyne Fles: an apothecary jar with the initials JT intertwined underneath (these stand for Joost Thooft, owner of the company in 1876). Below the bottle is the word Delft with a curly capital letter D. On the left are the painter’s initials: RMY, the year code DW (2002) and the model number (2214).

About De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft)
The Delft Porceleyne Fles pottery, also known as Royal Delft, is the only manufacturer of Delftware still in existence in Delft which, since 1653, has been hand-painting decorations on objects such as vases, wall plates, tiles and jugs, according to old tradition.
