Delft Blue Jug (Royal Delft – Porceleyne Fles)

This Delft Blue jug was manufactured at the Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in Delft. The jug is hand painted: flowers and geometric motifs are depicted on the jug. At the bottom is the mark of De Porceleyne Fles: an apothecary jar with the initials JT intertwined underneath (these stand for Joost Thooft, owner of the company in 1876). Below the bottle is the word ‘Delft’ with a curly capital letter D. On the left are the painter’s initials: RGIJ the year code and the model number 581.

This Delft Blue jug fits in both a classic and a modern interior. You can place it for example on a TV cabinet, windowsill, (side) table or in a bookcase. You can also place a (silk) flower in it.

It has been hand-painting decorations on objects such as vases, wall plates, tiles and jugs since 1653, in accordance with old traditional methods. De Porceleyne Fles is known worldwide for its products and in 1919 the factory received the designation Royal.
