I can hardly believe it: the year is almost at his end. And what a year it was! I gave 100% of what I had in me for Raechell, learned a lot and encountered myself more than once.
Sometimes I was so euphoric that I almost jumped a hole in the ceiling. Sometimes I wanted nothing more than to throw all those Delft Blue vases and Makkum plates out the window (just being honest…)
Yes, I’ve been wondering why I wanted all of this anyway. Because one thing is certain: starting your own business comes with a lot of trial and error. But enough with all the drama. In the end I am very happy with what I have achieved this year. And very proud of all the positive changes Raechell has undergone!
Mountains of bubblewrap, cat pranks and a beautiful new website
In the past year Raechell has had a true metamorphosis. The website has been completely renewed with the help of 3 guys, who I will mention separately later. I am more than satisfied with the result (even though I am quite a perfectionist…)
In addition to the website, I have been working hard to pack all sold items as nicely as possible (after wrapping them first in a lot of bubblewrap). I don’t want the product itself to be well received, but make the receiving and unpacking an experience in itself!
However, my work was often made more difficult by Toby, my kitten (almost a tiger by now), who saw the bubblewrap, wrapping paper and silk flowers as his play property. This sometimes cost me blood, sweat, tears and money for new flowers. Oh well, it can’t always go smoothly…
Sending parcels abroad
There’s nothing better than selling your first product. And especially when you notice that your products are also popular abroad.
In the past year I have been able to send packages several times to Australia, Germany, England and the United States. Of course, even more rolls of bubblewrap went through when packing these packages…
The first time I was quite nervous to actually send the ordered product. What if they were intercepted, broke, or dissatisfied? Fortunately, everything arrived in the right place and (more importantly), in one piece. Thank god!
Thank you all
Of course I didn’t do everything all by myself this year. There are a number of people who have helped me tremendously in setting up Raechell. And I would like to thank them through this blog for their efforts.
Firstly my parents Jan and Liesbeth, for their support, listening ear and good care for my son (Toby). In addition, I would like to thank Daisy (owner of Ditz), Roderick and Samir from Bob Wijn, Monique from Ecobeauty and Kelly from Hoepelman Kappers for allowing me to place my products in their shop. That was really great!
Aoife Quane and Nienke Heijmans, thank you for taking the beautiful photos of all the products for the website. And Naima, Melanie, Juul, Yvette, Angelique and coach Ellen; thanks for all the good feedback and the many listening ears. Also thanks to Webmix; Cliff Demandt, Julian Rohi and Jesper van Laar have taken the website to the next level!
Of course, the final thank you goes to everyone who has supported me by purchasing Raechell’s products. Without you I would end this year with a way less positive feeling!
Let’s celebrate!
Having said all this, it is almost time to put this beautiful period behind me and toast to a new productive, loving and healthy year. Hopefully Santa Claus will bring you some nice presents, and maybe even a pack of snow for the real Christmas feeling.
So here’s to all of you: Merry Christmas & a Happy Newyear! And be careful with firework…
