About ARNHEMSE FAYENCEFABRIEK (1907-1934)
The Arnhem Fayence Factory is a continuation of the Purmerend plate works founded in 1903, which burned down in 1906. Brothers Jacob (1880-1924) and Klaas Vet (1876-1943) subsequently chose Arnhem as their new place of business. It is not entirely clear why they chose this, but Arnhem was at the time a prosperous town with a good infrastructure. The objects that were made in the factory were mostly vases, flowerpots, wall plates, smoke and liquor sets and occasional pottery (souvenirs).
Because the Arnhem Fayencefabriek had a large kiln capacity, the factory also baked for other potteries in the Netherlands. The factory closed its doors in 1934.
