Delft Blue Jug (Royal Delft – Porceleyne Fles)

This Delft Blue jug was manufactured in 1978 at De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in Delft. The pouring jug is hand-painted: floral motifs are depicted on the front and back. At the bottom is the mark of De Porceleyne Fles: an apothecary jar with the initials JT intertwined underneath (these stand for Joost Thooft, owner of the company in 1876). Below the bottle is the word ‘Delft’ with a curly capital letter D. On the left are the painter’s initials MNIJ, the year code CX (1978) and the model number 952.

Interior advice
This Delft Blue jug fits both a classic and a modern interior. For example, you can place it on a TV cabinet, a (side) table, a windowsill or in a bookcase. The height of the jug, 28 cm, makes it perfect for many types of (silk) bouquets.

The Delft-based Porceleyne Fles pottery, also known as Royal Delft, is the only Delft manufacturer remaining for Delftware which, since 1653, still paints decorations on objects such as vases, wall plates, tiles and jugs by hand according to old tradition. De Porceleyne Fles is known worldwide for its products and in 1919 the factory received the designation Royal.
