These 6 Delft blue cake plates were manufactured at the Porceleyne Fles in Delft. They are hand painted: floral and geometric motifs are depicted. On the reverse is the mark of De Porceleyne Fles: an apothecary jar with the initials JT intertwined underneath (these stand for Joost Thooft, owner of the company in 1876). Below the bottle is the word ‘Delft’ with a curly capital letter D. On the left are the painter’s initials, the model number in the middle and on the right the year code. These cake plates have different year codes: they were made between 1930 and 1932.

About De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft)
The Delft-based Porceleyne Fles pottery, also known as Royal Delft, is the only Delft manufacturer remaining for Delftware which, since 1653, still paints decorations on objects such as vases, wall plates, tiles and jugs by hand according to old tradition. De Porceleyne Fles is known worldwide for its products and in 1919 the factory received the designation Royal.
