This unique bonbonnière was produced around 1900 at the Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) factory in Delft. The metallic glaze gives the candy dish a distinctive sheen. The “Reflet Métallique” objects were produced starting around 1892 and are among the earliest Dutch examples of pottery decorated solely with colored glazes that blend into one another. The bonbonnière is marked with a painted factory mark from Porceleyne Fles Delft, featuring the letters TL inside the bottle. These letters refer to Joost Thooft and Abel Labouchere.
